Annual Oomycete Molecular Genetics Meeting

Each year, the network will support a 2-3 day Oomycete Molecular Genetics Meeting (OMG Meeting). Usually, the meeting is organized in conjunction with the Asilomar Fungal Genetics Conference or, in alternate years, at a location outside the U.S. Upcoming meetings are listed below. They will take place in the spring or summer, and the specific dates and the locations will be announced when available.

2010 Oomycete Molecular Genetics Meeting June 6-8

The next Oomycete Molecular Genetics Meeting will be organized by Arnaud Bottin (arnaud.bottin@neuf.fr), Bernard Dumas and Elodie Gaulin of the Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France.  The draft program is available here.

The program and abstracts for the 2009 Asilomar meeting can be found here.

2009 Asilomar Meeting March 15-17

The annual Oomycete Molecular Genetics Network meeting will take place at the Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, California USA from March 15 to 17, 2009.  It is anticipated that the meeting will begin at 1pm on the 15th with light snacks starting at noon, and continue all day on March 16 and the morning of March 17.

The Oomycete Molecular Genetics Network extends an invitation to everyone with an interest in the molecular biology and genetics of this important group of microbes to attend the meeting.  The organizers for this year’s meeting are Mark Gijzen (GIJZENM@agr.gc.ca), Kurt Lamour (klamour@utk.edu), and Paul Morris  (pmorris@bgsu.edu; facilities coordinator).

This meeting is scheduled just prior to the 25th Fungal Genetics Conference, which will be held at Asilomar from March 17 to 22, 2009.  Please note that if you intend to attend the Fungal Genetics Conference, you must register and arrange housing for that conference separately.  Abstract submission and housing registration for that meeting ends December 12, 2008 (see http://www.fgsc.net/25thFGC/25thFGC_Meeting_info1.htm).

REGISTRATION AND ABSTRACTS FOR PRESENTATIONS

To register for the Oomycete Molecular Genetics Network meeting please send an email to Kurt Lamour  (klamour@utk.edu) by December 31, 2008.  Please include your name, institution, mailing address, and email.

Please also indicate in the email if you want to present an oral presentation or a poster, and include an abstract of your presentation.  In previous meetings, presentations were typically between 15 and 25 minutes.  The format of the abstract should be as follows:

Cloning the isoporter gene from Peronospora destructor.  H. Smith*, X. Chen, and F. Verdonk.  Department of Biology, Exeter University, Devon, UK EX4 4QJ(up to 250 words of text).

Registration costs for meeting participants are $50.00 for Ph.D. students and postdocs, and $100.00 for faculty-level scientists. Payments can be made to Paul Morris (meeting facilitator) at the conference either in cash or by check made out to "BGSU Biology".

HOUSING

Room reservations at the Asilomar Conference Center must be made by filling out the housing form  and returning it by mail or fax to the Asilomar Conference Center by January 15, 2009.  You may also contact the conference center at AsilomarSales@DNCinc.com.  The Housing Form can be found at: Housing form 2009-1
